Instead of a single arbitrary metric, our leaderboards are fully gamified! You can toggle between different ranking modes depending on your personal strategy. Here is how rankings and tie-breakers are calculated for each format:
Real-World Races (Time-Based)
For standard on-ground races, the logic is simple: the lowest total moving time wins. If two runners cross the finish line in the exact same second, they receive a true tie (the exact same rank number).
Virtual Distance Challenges
- 🏆 The Distance King/Queen (Default): Ranks by the highest total distance. Tie-breakers: Lowest total time, followed by the fewest number of activities.
- ⚡ First to Finish: Ranks by who hit the challenge goal earliest in the month. Tie-breaker: Lowest total time.
- 🦍 The Endurance Monster: Rewards ultra-runners by ranking those who hit the goal in the fewest number of runs. Tie-breakers: Highest total distance, followed by lowest total time.
Virtual Elevation Challenges
- ⛰️ The Mountain Goat (Default): Ranks by maximum elevation gained. Tie-breakers: Lowest total distance (meaning the route was steeper), followed by lowest total time.
- ⚡ First to the Peak: Ranks by who reached the summit target first. Tie-breaker: Lowest total distance (steepest route).
- 🦍 The Power Hiker: Ranks by who hit the summit target in the fewest number of climbs. Tie-breakers: Highest elevation, followed by lowest total distance.
